‘Tout Le Monde Et Personne’. He blames ‘Everybody and No one’.

Clearly, Bintogoma Traore was not trying to get rich, or entertain: he wanted to change the world. And all it took to get there was 4 cassettes, all recorded between 1994 et 1998. In that time he went from extreme poverty, sellings eggs in the streets and killing pigs at the factory, to being the biggest pop star in his native country, Burkina Faso, and a legend all over Western Africa.

Corruption, ill governance, education, colonisation… All his songs were history and philosophical lessons for the ghetto youths, the unemployed, and the many people who could identify themselves with him.

He died 20 years ago, mortally wounded after going through a car crash. Today, his videos still ranks millions of views on social network. No one has forgotten him. And his fight is more relevant than ever.

Thank you to his son Ange Fela Traore and his wife Adji Sanon (to whom he dedicated the song ‘Adji’ included here) for their trust in us leading this reissue project. Half of the profits from the record goes to them.

Tout Le Monde et Personne = Il n’accuse personne, mais il accuse tout le monde.

Clairement, Bintogoma Traoré n’était pas là pour s’enrichir, ni pour divertir: il voulait changer le monde. Parti de rien, tour à tour vendeur d’oeufs ambulant ou employé de porcherie, il ne lui fallut que 4 cassettes, toutes enregistrées entre 1994 et 1998, pour s’imposer comme le plus grand musicien Burkinabais à ce jour, adulé dans son pays, et dans toute l’Afrique de l’ouest.

Corruption, mal gouvernance, colonisation, éducation… Black So Man était un homme du peuple, en qui tout le monde pouvait s’identifier, et particulièrement la jeunesse, les sans emplois, les habitants des ghettos et tous ceux qui luttent pour survivre.

Vingt ans après sa mort tragique, des suites d’un accident de voiture, ses vidéos cumulent encore aujourd’hui plusieurs millions de vues sur les réseaux sociaux. Personne n’a oublié Black So Man. Et son combat est plus actuel que jamais.

Merci à son fils Ange Fela Traoré, et à sa femme Adji Sanon, (à qui est dédiée la chanson ‘Adji’ présente ici) pour la confiance qu’ils nous ont accordé. La moitié des bénéfices de ce disque leur est reversée.
